One of the most common questions I get while living in Reno is where to shop.

While Reno isn't a major city, it has a pretty good shopping infrastructure, so I thought it would be helpful to put together a list for newcomers.

The first place that comes to mind for shopping in Reno is Meadowood Mall. Its address is 5000 Meadowood Mall Circle, located in the southern part of Reno. This two-story indoor mall features anchor stores like Macy's, JCPenney, and Dick's Sporting Goods, along with about 120 other stores including H&M, Bath & Body Works, and Victoria's Secret.

There's also a food court, so you can grab a meal while shopping. Parking is free and quite spacious. It gets very busy during the holiday season, so I recommend visiting on weekday mornings.

If you prefer an outdoor outlet style, I recommend Summit Sierra (formerly Summit Mall). Its address is 13925 South Virginia Street. It features stores like Nordstrom Rack, Nike Factory Store, Gap Factory, Banana Republic Factory, and Crate & Barrel Outlet, along with several restaurants, making it convenient for shopping and dining at the same time. It's located near McCarran in southern Reno, making it easily accessible, and the open-air shopping mall has a pleasant atmosphere for walking on nice days.

For big box stores, you can find Costco (Reno location: 333 Disc Drive, Sparks), Sam's Club (2355 Market Street), and Walmart Supercenter (various locations) throughout Reno. Trader Joe's has two locations at 2401 Kietzke Lane and South Virginia Street, and Whole Foods Market is located at 6139 South Virginia Street, popular among those who prefer organic and natural foods.

If you're looking to buy Korean groceries, it's convenient to use the Asian markets located in Sparks.

The farmers market is one of Reno's seasonal cultural highlights. The largest and oldest is the Reno Farmers Market, which runs every Tuesday from 4 PM to 7 PM from May to October near Wingfield Park (2 S. Arlington Ave.).

Local farm vegetables and fruits, homemade jams, honey, baked goods, and crafts are sold there. The Sparks Farmers Market operates every Wednesday from 8 AM to 1 PM at Victorian Square, providing plenty of fresh local produce. During the summer season, several small markets pop up in the Reno and Sparks areas, so it's a good idea to check the City of Reno's official website event calendar.

For health and medical supplies or baby-related shopping, you can make good use of Target (various locations) and Smith's Food & Drug (a Kroger chain) in the Reno area. If you're interested in beauty and fashion, be sure to check out Sephora in Meadowood Mall and Lush and Athleta at Summit Sierra.

Reno, being in Nevada with no state income tax and a well-developed shopping infrastructure, often attracts people from California who come for bulk shopping.
