The Korean community in Detroit is concentrated in the northern suburbs near Novi and Troy rather than in the city itself. The rent for 2-bedrooms in this area ranges from $1,500 to $1,750, which is higher than the Detroit city average, but considering the school districts and accessibility to Korean markets and churches, it remains a highly preferred area.
For Korean families moving to Detroit, if urban accessibility is a priority, Midtown should be considered, while Novi or Troy may be better for those prioritizing education and community. Given the significant rent gap between the city and suburbs for the same budget, it is essential to weigh commuting times and school districts together.
