Irving, Texas, is commonly known as just a city next to DFW Airport, but when you look into the famous people from this city, you'll find some impressive names.

The most notable name in sports is Kerry Wood. Born and raised in Irving, he was an MLB pitcher who played for the Chicago Cubs for 14 years, winning the National League Rookie of the Year in 1998 and being selected as an All-Star twice.

Another baseball player from Irving is Trevor Story. He played both baseball and football at Irving High School and later established himself as a Major League shortstop.

In track and field, there's Jeremy Wariner, who was born in Irving on January 31, 1984. He specializes in the 400 meters and has won four Olympic medals and six World Championship medals.

Country music songwriter Liz Rose grew up in Irving and is known for writing songs on Taylor Swift's debut album. She has also worked with Carrie Underwood and Tim McGraw.

In politics, Beth Van Duyne stands out. She served as the mayor of Irving from 2011 to 2017 and is currently a member of the U.S. House of Representatives for Texas's 24th congressional district. Film director David Lowery, also from Irving, has directed Disney's Pete's Dragon and The Old Man & the Gun.

Actor Jim Beaver is another notable figure from Irving, best known for his role as Bobby Singer on the TV show Supernatural.
