Henderson, NV, is a city adjacent to Las Vegas, but it has steadily developed its own city identity and community culture.
Unlike the flashy events in Las Vegas, family-oriented local events are held throughout Henderson year-round. We have organized the major annual events centered around the official events hosted by the City of Henderson and the Henderson Parks & Recreation department.
One of the largest local festivals in Henderson is the Henderson Bird & Wildlife Festival. Held every February, this event takes place primarily at the Clark County Wetlands Park and the Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve. Bird watching tours, wildlife education programs, and guided nature walks are offered over two days, attracting many family participants. Admission is either free or very low-cost, allowing local residents to participate without financial burden.
The Henderson St. Patrick's Day Parade & Festival is a popular event held every mid-March. It takes place around Water Street in downtown Henderson and features a parade, live music, traditional Irish food, and a craft market. Henderson is one of the cities in Nevada that has hosted this event for many years, drawing thousands of visitors.
The Henderson Fourth of July Fireworks & Festival is held on July 4th, the American Independence Day. Major parks in Henderson host a fireworks show along with live band performances, local food booths, and children's play areas. Unlike the casino fireworks on the Las Vegas Strip, this event has a family-centered atmosphere and is popular among Korean families as well.
In October, various forms of Henderson Halloween events take place. The Henderson Halloween Carnival, organized by Henderson Parks & Recreation, is held in local parks and includes trick-or-treat events, costume contests, and haunted experience zones. Shops in the downtown Water Street area also host trick-or-treat events.
During the year-end season, the Henderson Holiday Parade of Lights is held in early December. Known as one of the longest nighttime parades in Nevada, it features beautifully decorated floats, marching bands, and a Santa Claus procession marching through the Water Street area. This large event attracts tens of thousands of attendees each year, primarily family viewers.
Additionally, the Henderson Farmers Market runs regularly from spring to fall on weekdays or weekends, featuring local produce, handmade crafts, and food booths. You can check the annual event schedule on the Henderson Parks & Recreation website (cityofhenderson.com) and subscribe to the email newsletter for advance notifications.
