Many people are looking to settle in Plano by renting, either because they can't afford to buy a home or they prefer to rent first.
I also started by renting when I first came to this neighborhood. I've gathered information on the current rental prices for 1-bedroom apartments.
According to various rental data sites, the monthly rent for a 1-bedroom apartment in Plano ranges from $1,448 to $1,680.
The average for 2025 according to RentCafe is $1,680, while Zumper's data from March 2026 shows $1,473 for a 760 square foot apartment, and apartments.com lists it at $1,448. While there are slight differences among sources, generally, you can expect a range of $1,450 to $1,680.
Compared to early 2025, there has been a slight fluctuation. As of January 2026, some data shows an increase of $139 (9.58%) year-over-year, while other data indicates a decrease of 2.39% annually.
Depending on which data you look at, it varies, but overall, the rental prices are stable without significant changes.
There are also differences depending on the neighborhood. Apartments in newly developed areas like Legacy tend to be priced higher, while older apartment complexes in the older parts of town are relatively cheaper. In the DFW metroplex, Plano maintains a mid-to-upper level of rental prices due to its good school districts and safety.
If you're considering renting, it's best to compare actual listings in different neighborhoods. Even within Plano, the atmosphere can vary quite a bit from area to area.
Finding good listings in the low $1,500s is not impossible, so if you put in some effort, you should be able to find great options!
