San Diego is a city located in the southern part of California, where the Korean population has steadily increased, forming an active Korean community. In 2010, Forbes rated San Diego as the 9th safest city in the United States. From the 1990s to 2000, the crime rate has consistently decreased.
Korean Population Status
According to the 2020 U.S. Census, approximately 18,103 Koreans reside in San Diego. This is about a sixfold increase compared to 2,958 in 2010, showing a rapid growth of the Korean population over the past decade.
San Diego Korean Association
The San Diego Korean Association is engaged in various activities to promote the rights and enhance the community of local Koreans. On January 15, 2024, they held a New Year's ceremony to kick off the new year's activities, and President Andy Park announced plans for his new term.
Additionally, the association has revamped its website to strengthen communication with the local community. Through this, they transparently disclose various information such as the history and financial situation of the association, encouraging participation from Koreans.
Korean Community ActivitiesThe San Diego Korean Association hosts various events to promote unity and cultural exchange among Koreans. On December 14, 2024, they plan to hold a year-end festival to conclude the year and foster unity among Koreans.
