Palm Springs is a city that hosts events year-round.
It may seem barren and quiet as a desert, but the scale of events in this small city is truly global.
Of course, the most well-known is Coachella, but there are also festivals that fill Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley.
In January, the Palm Springs International Film Festival takes place.
Started in 1989, it runs for about 12 days in early to mid-January, showcasing over 200 films from more than 60 countries. It's a special experience for film fans, as Hollywood actors and directors often attend.
In February, Modernism Week is celebrated throughout Palm Springs. This event honors the city's identity filled with mid-century modern architecture from the 1950s and 60s, featuring prominent architect tours, home tours, and design exhibitions over 11 days in February. Ticket prices vary by event, but popular tours often sell out quickly.
In March, the BNP Paribas Open is held at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, 78200 Miles Ave, Indian Wells. This is the largest Masters tournament after the majors on the ATP and WTA tours, featuring top-ranked players like Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz.
Tickets range from $30 (for outer standing) to several hundred dollars, and during the two-week tournament, accommodations in Palm Springs and Indian Wells are often fully booked, making it one of the biggest events. In April, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival takes place at the Empire Polo Club, 81800 51st Ave, Indio.
It is held over two weekends in the 2nd and 3rd weeks of April, and music fans around the world get excited with each headliner announcement.
There are various ticket options, including camping passes, single-day tickets, and weekend passes, with shuttle buses running from Palm Springs to Indio. With all these events packed into the spring season, if you time your visit right, you can experience a truly special Palm Springs.
