It's really important to know which hospital to go to in case of illness or an emergency.
I was really worried about this when I first arrived. Let me introduce you to the major hospitals in Montgomery 😊
First is Baptist Medical Center South. It's the largest hospital in Montgomery, a large general hospital with 492 beds.
It specializes in cardiovascular, orthopedic, neurology, and surgical fields. Baptist Health is the largest healthcare system in Central Alabama, serving a total of 14 counties. It has a partnership with UAB Health System. Baptist Medical Center East (176 beds, specializing in women's and children's care) and Prattville Baptist Hospital (107 beds) are also in operation. This is the most commonly visited hospital when major surgeries or specialized care are needed.
The second is Jackson Hospital. It's a nonprofit community hospital with 344 beds.
This comprehensive hospital covers Montgomery and the River Region. It specializes in heart care, cancer treatment, stroke care, bariatric surgery, spinal surgery, robotic surgery, maternal care, wound care, and hospice/palliative care. Wait! It's known that Jackson Hospital's maternal care program is particularly good for expectant mothers. It also operates affiliated facilities like Jackson Surgery Center, Jackson Imaging Center, and Jackson Wellness Center.
The third is Central Alabama VA Medical Center. It's a hospital operated by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
This is an important place for military personnel and their families. It offers a variety of specialized services from primary care to cardiology, urology, mental health, and dementia/Alzheimer's treatment. It also plays a role in providing medical support for the Maxwell AFB military community.
The healthcare infrastructure in Montgomery is quite well-developed for the size of the city. Especially for seniors or those with chronic illnesses, they can live without worry. There are clinics with Korean doctors, so when you first move here, be sure to ask the community for information about Korean doctors. You'll realize how comforting it is to have a doctor you know when you live here!
