Living in the U.S., I was stuck in the past with Korean idols, only knowing girl groups like Girls' Generation and the ones I saw during my military service.
These days, kids really know how to dance... I kept seeing Yuna pop up in YouTube recommendations with fan cams and introduction videos alongside her ITZY members.
I wondered who she was, and the member with a pretty face and large, cartoon-like eyes turned out to be Yuna.
ITZY is a five-member girl group that JYP Entertainment boldly introduced in 2019.
From their debut song "DALLA DALLA," they shouted, "I'm different from you!" bringing a confident 'Teen Crush' concept instead of the traditional innocent and sexy image of girl groups.
Among them, the youngest member Yuna, born in 2003, is the pinnacle of visuals and the very essence of the group.
Being born in 2003 means she is now 23. After graduating from college, she's not that young anymore.
However, Yuna's debut was truly shocking among K-Pop fans, even though she was only 17 at the time.
Despite her age, her facial expressions were already at the level of a 'three-year veteran.'

Yuna's debut backstory makes you realize that 'life is all about timing.'
As a sixth grader, she went to see BTOB's year-end concert with her older sister and caught the attention of a JYP casting manager.
What's even funnier is her audition story. Having never learned to sing or dance, Yuna sang Ailee's "Evening Sky" and even added the national anthem at the audition.
JYP saw a future superstar in an elementary school student singing the national anthem.
Interestingly, Yuna was also a floorball player from fifth grade until her second year of middle school.
I don't really know what floorball is, but Yuna was the ace and a key attacker on her team.
She won the Gyeonggi Province competition, participated in national competitions, and even received an award from a member of the National Assembly.
Many people look at Yuna and wonder, "How can a person have a body like that?"
This astonishment peaked during her cover performance of Lee Hyori's "U-Go-Girl" at the 2022 KBS Song Festival.
At that time, Yuna wore low-rise jeans on stage, showcasing her 'real golden hip line' and slim waist, causing a surge in real-time searches on Naver and YouTube.
As you can see in the photo below, she was born with a Barbie doll figure as a Korean woman.

She has a clear and refreshing vocal tone with a solid vocal range.
Even while executing intense choreography, her pitch remains almost flawless.
During the "ICY" promotions, when Yuna smiled and shouted, "I see that I'm icy!" her smile is a unique charm that not just anyone can pull off.
Her diction is precise, making her lyric delivery excellent. She dances well too.
These days, I find small healing moments watching Yuna's fan cams on YouTube.
Her looks, physique, stage presence, and the tenacity from her floorball days all contribute to why Yuna is the representative visual of ITZY and an icon of the fourth generation of K-Pop girl groups.
Today, whenever a Yuna video pops up in my algorithm, I can't help but hit like as if I'm enchanted. Haha.
