These days, I'm introducing a cabbage tuna rice bowl recipe that has been trending as a diet meal.
It's simple, tastes great, and is low in calories, making it especially popular among those living alone.
It became even more famous after Kyuhyun made it in the microwave on the show "I Live Alone."
This is an ultra-simple microwave recipe.
It's for one serving and takes just 5 minutes.
The ingredients are about half a cup to one cup of brown rice, around 150g of cabbage (two handfuls), one can of drained tuna, and one egg.
The seasonings include half to one tablespoon of oyster sauce, one tablespoon of tuna sauce, half a tablespoon of red pepper flakes (optional), one tablespoon of sesame oil, and a little sesame seeds.
First, thinly slice the cabbage, wash it, and drain the water. Place the rice in a microwave-safe container. Then, add the cabbage and drained tuna on top. Add the oyster sauce and tuna sauce, and place one egg in the center. At this point, poke the yolk with a fork to prevent it from bursting. Cover with plastic wrap or a lid and microwave for 3-4 minutes. Finally, sprinkle with sesame oil and sesame seeds, mix well, and it's done. It's really simple.
This is a pan-fried recipe.
If you like a crunchy texture, this method is tastier.
Lightly oil a pan and stir-fry the sliced cabbage first. The key is to stir-fry just until it wilts slightly. Then, add the drained tuna, oyster sauce, and tuna sauce, and stir-fry together. Push the ingredients to the edge of the pan and crack an egg in the center to cook. Place the stir-fried ingredients on top of warm rice and drizzle with sesame oil to finish. It's much more flavorful.
I'll also share some tips for making it even tastier. If you want to reduce carbs for dieting, you can substitute mashed tofu for the rice. If you like spicy flavors, you can finely chop some Cheongyang peppers or add a bit more red pepper flakes for extra flavor. Adding some seaweed flakes or a little low-calorie mayonnaise gives it a snack-like feel and a different taste.
It's low in calories but provides protein, making it surprisingly filling for a diet meal.
Try making it once when you're busy, and you'll see why this dish has become popular lately~
Enjoy your meal! ㅎㅎ
