Today, I want to learn about the state of Hawaii, located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Hawaii is known for being a state of the United States and for having a flag that features the Union Jack of the United Kingdom. With a warm climate year-round, its beautiful natural scenery and unique culture make it a beloved destination for tourists.

Hawaii has an area of about 28,311 square kilometers, making it the 43rd largest state in the U.S. Its population is around 1.4 million, with major cities including Honolulu, Hilo, and Kailua-Kona. Honolulu is the capital of Hawaii, serving as the center of politics, economy, and tourism. Hawaii consists of 8 major islands, including the Big Island (Hawaii Island), Maui, Oahu, Molokai, and Kauai, with two-thirds of the population residing on Oahu, where Honolulu is located.

Hawaii is made up of 5 counties, and there are no cities or towns. Therefore, while Honolulu is the capital and the county seat of Honolulu County, which includes Honolulu, there is no separate city hall, classifying it as an Unincorporated Region.

The history of Hawaii is deeply connected to Polynesian culture and American history. Polynesian explorers first settled on the islands about 1,500 years ago, and in the late 18th century, Captain James Cook introduced Hawaii to Europe. In 1959, Hawaii became the 50th state of the United States, and today it is home to a diverse mix of ethnicities and cultures.

Hawaii is also famous for its natural beauty. Waikiki Beach is a world-renowned beach, the perfect place for surfing and relaxation. Volcanoes like Mauna Loa are at the heart of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, where you can experience unique landscapes and ecosystems. Other attractions include Hanauma Bay and the Napali Coast.

There are four islands that tourists visit (Kauai, Oahu, Maui, and the Big Island), while there are other islands (Niihau, Lanai, Molokai) that people live on but are not frequently visited by tourists for various reasons, and islands (Kahoʻolawe, Molokini, etc.) that are uninhabited.

Food is also one of Hawaii's major attractions. Be sure to try traditional Hawaiian dishes like Poke, Lau Lau, and Haupia. Additionally, Hawaii is famous for its fresh tropical fruits and seafood dishes. In Honolulu, you can enjoy a variety of fusion cuisine and locally roasted coffee.

Culturally, Hawaii is a state where art and tradition blend together. Hula and Ukulele represent traditional Hawaiian culture, and the annual Merrie Monarch Festival showcases the essence of traditional hula dance. Moreover, historical sites like Pearl Harbor play a significant role in American history.

About 50,000 Koreans reside in Hawaii. A Korean community has formed around Honolulu, with many Korean churches and restaurants. The Korean residents actively engage with the local community, promoting Korean culture through various events and activities.
