It seems that the DOGE agency, which was famous in the U.S., has disappeared...
Why do such absurd things keep happening?
Just hearing the name DOGE makes it sound like some incredibly special government efficiency department, right?
Department Of Government Efficiency, it feels like it would save on taxes.
But it turns out that this was not even an existing agency.
In fact, federal agencies need to be created by Congress, but they just changed the name of an organization within the White House and operated it.
Trump reportedly dismantled the existing U.S. Digital Service and just renamed it DOGE.
However, this agency, which was just a name change, actually did a lot of significant work despite not existing.
They say it effectively halted the overseas aid agency USAID, which is not just a simple administrative prank, right?
There are analyses suggesting that about 640,000 people died due to the cut in aid worldwide. Just looking at the numbers is suffocating.
Also, the consumer protection agency CFPB is said to be nearly shut down. It seems to be a nuisance to financial companies.
So the results are not even funny. These days, the conditions for credit card issuance in the U.S. have changed strangely, and there have been many cases of huge interest rates attached to medical bills and installment cards.
Student loan records are a mess, consumer protection is a mess... It's quite ironic to say that "we saved taxpayer money" in this situation.
Moreover, the amount that DOGE claimed to have saved doesn't add up at all. At first, they said they saved $2 trillion, then $1 trillion, then $150 billion, and finally claimed it was $214 billion... When calculating the wasted costs in the process, they found a loss of $458 billion.
If they are claiming efficiency while actually doubling their losses, then they are just the 'inefficiency champions.'
And the most amusing part is that the government is quietly acknowledging that DOGE has disappeared.
Officially, it doesn't exist, but they want to keep issuing directives while claiming that "the principles are still alive."
So, there is no substance, but they pretend to exist on the surface.
Honestly, seeing this makes me realize that the government is not much different from corporate organizational battles.
To manage power, they insist that even non-existent things exist.
But in the end, DOGE reportedly disappeared 8 months earlier than its scheduled termination date.
The remaining employees are said to have no authority and have become even more useless than those they eliminated.
It's ironic. While shouting about efficiency and cutting others, they ended up being the most useless public servants themselves.
Watching this story, I honestly thought about this.
Every time the government changes, they present something new and innovative, but in reality, the ones who are sacrificed in the process are the citizens.
In the name of efficiency, reducing people, cutting budgets, and crossing responsibilities means that someone loses their survival.
Whether in the U.S. or Korea, I think true efficiency is a policy that quietly saves lives rather than flashy words.
We need to monitor and question such things more. That way, politics can protect our lives instead of ruining them.
