Living in Fullerton, you often see expensive sports cars in Orange County, just like in Beverly Hills or Malibu.
Whether it's due to rising home prices in Southern California or because everyone is doing well with portfolio investments, I don't know, but Porsches and BMW M series have become common, and it's not unusual to see dream cars like Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and Bentleys on the road.
However, I couldn't help but be surprised by the news of the newly released Cadillac sports sedan, the 2026 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing. A four-door sedan with a top speed of 205 mph, exceeding 330 km/h, is a level that even most supercars should be wary of. But what's even more surprising is that its powerful performance is not just about being 'fast in a straight line.'
From the exterior, it already showcases a classic American muscular physique with sharply designed headlights and grille, and an incredibly sporty rear diffuser, making it clear that this is not an ordinary sedan. Just parked in a lot, it feels like a muscular beast is quietly crouching.
Entering the car's interior reveals a space where luxury and technology harmonize. With leather finishes, delicate graphics on the digital cluster, and driving modes that adjust according to the driver's style, the moment you grip the steering wheel, it feels like a true driving experience awaits. The engine is a 6.2-liter supercharged V8, producing a staggering 668 horsepower and 659 lb-ft of torque.
The moment you press the accelerator, it goes from a standstill to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds; what makes this car truly remarkable is not just its speed but its balance. The over 4,000-pound body smoothly navigates corners in a way that seems unbelievable.
This is thanks to Cadillac's proud Magnetic Ride Suspension. Numerous sensors detect the road and the driver's movements, adjusting the damping in real-time, allowing for insane cornering on the track while remaining smooth like a sedan on regular roads. Thus, the Blackwing is said to possess both 'monster-like performance and everyday ride comfort.'

Offering a manual 6-speed transmission, which is hard to find these days, reflects Cadillac's commitment. Many people know that the tactile feel of pressing the clutch and shifting gears is irreplaceable, and those who enjoy driving will choose manual. With a rear-wheel-drive system, the car seems to read the driver's intentions with every turn, and the feedback when braking is sharp.
What's even more astonishing is the actual track record. The 2 minutes and 47.9 seconds recorded at Virginia International Raceway surpassed sports cars like the Porsche Cayman GT4 and Corvette C8, and is only about 1 second slower than the 911 GT3. For a four-door sedan to achieve such a record is almost miraculous.
Now, let's talk about the price. Honestly, if you were expecting 'value for money,' you might be disappointed. The manual model starts at $99,095, while the automatic is $105,370. Adding taxes and options can easily push it over $110,000. However, looking at competing models changes the narrative. The BMW M5 starts at $121,900, and most Mercedes AMG E63 or Audi RS7 models are over $130,000.
In that light, the Blackwing deserves to be evaluated as 'expensive but worth it.'
Moreover, its performance is superior to these competitors. To be honest, buying a Blackwing is not just about 'buying a car' but rather 'buying the art of driving.' This car serves as both a daily driver and a track car, blending classic and high-tech elements, perfectly mixing American muscle with European refinement.
Compared to the American sports car king, the Corvette, the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is somewhat pricier. However, considering that the Corvette is hard to drive when going to the market or visiting a friend's house, this car, which is suitable for daily use, is worth its price. I believe it proves that the American automotive industry is still alive and well.
