Collin College - Spring Creek Campus is the representative campus of Plano, located at 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway.
It has active arts and sports programs, and excellent library facilities, making it the most utilized campus by students.
For the 2025-2026 academic year, the in-district tuition for residents of Collin County is $67 per credit hour. Texas residents outside of Collin County pay $127, while out-of-state and international students pay $202.
The school has decided to maintain these tuition rates, keeping them among the lowest for community colleges in Texas.
Some may not realize how affordable these rates are.
In the U.S., a typical college course is 3 credits. This means that the tuition for one course for a Collin County resident is about $201.
A full-time student taking 12 credits in a semester would have a pure tuition cost of about $804. Of course, there are additional student activity fees and various charges, but it remains incredibly affordable.
In contrast, directly enrolling in a Texas state university or a typical four-year college often results in tuition costs that exceed thousands of dollars, sometimes even reaching ten thousand dollars.
Therefore, it's no surprise that more students are completing their first two years at community college before transferring.
Ironically, there are still people who say, "Community colleges are of lower quality," unaware of this reality.

In fact, American students make the most practical choice to save on tuition, while we often feel pressured to pay higher tuition for the sake of appearances.
In the end, the diploma is the same, but many end up with more student loan debt.
Collin College is not just a two-year institution. It offers a variety of programs, including Associate degrees (AA, AS, AAT), Associate of Applied Science (AAS), Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Bachelor of Applied Technology (BAT), and various vocational certification programs.
The annual pure tuition for students residing in Collin County is about $2,160, and the cost of textbooks is around $2,220. They guide students to calculate the total cost of education, including housing and food, but the tuition itself is very low compared to other U.S. colleges. So, I feel a bit frustrated when Korean newcomers to Plano say, "I think I can't go to college because my English isn't good," or "I'm too old to study now."
The U.S. is a country that offers many second chances more than you might think. Age does not prevent admission, and many people earn their degrees while working at their jobs. In fact, starting later is not unusual.
Ultimately, what matters is not which school is more prestigious, but how to achieve your goals at the lowest cost.
In that sense, Collin College in Plano is a school that deserves more than just the label of 'value for money.'
It has low tuition burdens, transfer opportunities, and pathways from certification programs to bachelor's degrees.
