As far as I know, a CEO of a healthcare insurance company has been in the healthcare business for 30 years after starting his own business.

Usually, what a CEO emphasizes to employees is "Do your best, always work hard."

However, this CEO uniquely emphasized to his employees not to do their best, but to work comfortably as they always have.

When I first heard it, it actually sounded a bit strange.

In the healthcare insurance field, there are many complex issues, so I wondered why the phrase 'don't do your best' would come up.

After hearing the explanation, I nodded in agreement.

Employees handling complex insurance products have to work under tension every day, and even small mistakes can lead to big problems.

Because of this, if they always shout "best, best" while working, burnout can come quickly, resulting in negative outcomes for both the company and the employees.

The CEO often said this: maintaining a long-term rhythm is better for the company and for the patients than short-term results.

In fact, his company considers 'consistency' to be the most important value.

They make sure that employees do not rush and work at their own pace.

They also flexibly adjust work schedules and strengthen teamwork to avoid overloading tasks.

Thanks to this, employee turnover is low, and customer satisfaction has actually increased.

The CEO also pointed out another important point. If one or two people work excessively hard, it puts pressure on the surrounding employees.

If the atmosphere spreads with thoughts like, "That person is working so hard, should I do more?" the whole company enters a tense mode, which can easily lead to collective burnout.

So he often said, even intentionally, "Take it easy, do it as you have been doing."

Listening to this story, I felt that the characteristics of the healthcare insurance industry and the philosophy of this CEO fit very well together.

And I think this philosophy can be applied to our lives as well.

Rather than the obsession of doing your best every day, creating a steady and comfortable rhythm may ultimately be the way to achieve good results in the long run.

In the end, the reason why the CEO's words sound like wisdom for life rather than just a simple company management principle is that we are all on a path where we need to walk without getting tired for a long time.

It's okay not to do your best, just do it as you have been, comfortably, and steadily.

This might be the most important attitude in our daily lives.
