Things to Check When Moving to Lansdale - Lansdale - 1

If you have decided to move to Lansdale or are considering it, I have compiled things I learned after moving here and things I wish I had known in advance.

I focused on practical information that is hard to find online.

First, there's the address registration and administrative processes. When you move to Pennsylvania, you must exchange your driver's license for a PA license within 60 days.

You need to go to a PennDOT Driver License Center, and the closest ones to Lansdale are in Norristown or Blue Bell.

If you go without an appointment, you may have to wait a long time, so it's best to make an online reservation in advance. You also need to change your vehicle registration to PA, and an annual vehicle inspection is mandatory. PA has separate safety and emissions inspections, which can be done at various repair shops in Lansdale.

Second, there's the school registration process. When registering your child in the North Penn School District, you will need proof of residency (lease agreement or property deed), vaccination records, and previous school transcripts and records.

You can start the registration online on the school's website, and you will need to visit the District office afterward. For immigrant families, there is an ELL (English Language Learner) program for children who need help with English, so apply if necessary. You can also contact them in advance to request interpretation support.

Third, familiarize yourself with the local infrastructure. The nearest H Mart is in the Blue Bell/Montgomeryville area, and Costco is in King of Prussia. There are several Korean hair salons in North Wales and Blue Bell, and there are multiple Korean churches in Lansdale and the surrounding areas.

Hospitals include clinics under Abington Jefferson Health in Lansdale, and for larger hospitals, you will go to Einstein Medical Center Montgomery in Norristown or to Philadelphia. Lastly, prepare for winter. Since it snows quite a bit in this area, it's good to have a snow shovel, rock salt, and a vehicle scraper ready before November.
