San Diego Korean Baptist Church, See World Baptist Church - San Diego - 1

If you are looking for a Korean church with a Baptist tradition in San Diego, you might want to check out See World Baptist Church.

This church is impressive because it was started to serve Koreans and Korean-American families who are facing difficulties in their immigrant lives.

See World Baptist Church was established by Pastor Lee Ho-young on November 3, 1996, with the first worship service held at Hilltop Park in Chula Vista with nine members. At that time, the church was named 'San Diego United Baptist Church,' and in January 1997, it moved to the First Baptist Church of Bay Park, overlooking the famous SeaWorld in San Diego.

On March 2 of the same year, a founding service was held with local pastors and members, and it has steadily grown since then, changing its name to 'See World Baptist Church' in 2006, which it continues to use today.

Pastor Lee Ho-young's life story is also an important part of understanding the church's identity. He served in the U.S. Army for over 20 years, during which he served as a lay leader and Bible teacher. While in the military, he closely observed Korean and American families facing challenges such as language barriers, cultural differences, racial discrimination, and family conflicts, which led him to start helping them, eventually leading to his current pastoral ministry.

Since he felt God's calling in San Antonio, Texas, in 1992, Pastor Lee has continued his important ministry of healing, helping those who are hurting. Therefore, See World Baptist Church aims to be a community that not only provides a space for worship but also cares for and helps restore the hearts of members facing difficulties in their immigrant lives.

Worship services are centered around the Bible, emphasizing personal faith and spiritual growth in line with Baptist traditions. Additionally, small group meetings, Bible studies, and prayer gatherings are organized to create an environment where members can fellowship and grow together in faith.

Notably, this church strives to be a warm community for newly settled Koreans, military families, multicultural families, and those needing help in adapting to life in America.

Having walked alongside the local Korean community for nearly 30 years, See World Baptist Church values the importance of the Word, service, and care for people over grand scale. If you want to continue your Baptist faith in San Diego or are looking for a Korean church with a family-like atmosphere, attending a worship service to experience the church's environment firsthand would be a good choice.
