In spring 2026, a new roller coaster will debut at SeaWorld San Antonio. Its name is Barracuda Strike.
This is the first inverted family coaster to be introduced in Texas. The inverted design means that the train runs suspended below the track, so your feet will dangle in the air from the moment you board. However, it does not go into the water as shown in the picture.
With no floor, you will naturally feel like you are floating in the air as you move along the track, which is about 550 meters long, allowing you to experience that suspended feeling for longer than you might expect.
The course starts by slowly climbing to about 27 meters high, building tension, and then drops straight down, reaching speeds of about 71 kilometers per hour. It's not just a straight shot; there are consecutive turns that keep your body changing direction.
What's impressive is that this coaster is designed to cross over the large water ski lake within SeaWorld. You can see the water below, your feet are in the air, and the wind and water spray rush by you.
According to SeaWorld, the design adjusts the water level so that family visitors can enjoy it without any issues. It strikes a balance between not being too intimidating while still being exciting enough for adults.
For kids, it will be a new challenge, and for adults, it's a fun ride that has been a long time coming. Personally, I think Barracuda Strike will subtly enhance the tourism atmosphere in San Antonio.
SeaWorld San Antonio is a place where a day can pass quickly once you visit. Upon entering, you can feel both the amusement park and aquarium vibes, which naturally excites both kids and adults.
The dolphin and orca shows are large-scale and sophisticated, making them a rare experience in this inland location. There are plenty of shaded and resting areas, so you won't feel overwhelmed by the hot Texas weather. The rides are a good mix of family-friendly and thrill rides, making it suitable for anyone. Especially, the water play area is a must-visit during the summer.
