Location and Hours: The Visitor Center is located in the basement of the north wing of the Kansas State Capitol in Topeka. The hours of operation are from 8 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday, and from 10 AM to 4 PM on Saturdays.

Parking Information: You can use the underground parking lot located between 8th Street and Harrison. The hours of operation are from 8 AM to 5 PM on weekdays, and from 10 AM to 4 PM on Saturdays. The first 2 hours of parking are free, and the parking garage height limit is 8 feet 2 inches.

Tour Information: The Visitor Center offers both self-guided and guided tours. The guided tours are divided into historical tours and dome tours, with the following schedule:

  • Historical Tour:

    • Monday to Friday: 9 AM, 10 AM, 11 AM, 1 PM, 2 PM, 3 PM
    • Saturday: 10 AM, 11 AM, 1 PM, 2 PM, 3 PM
  • Dome Tour:

    • Monday to Friday: 9:15 AM, 10:15 AM, 11:15 AM, 1:15 PM, 2:15 PM, 3:15 PM
    • Saturday: 10:15 AM, 11:15 AM, 1:15 PM, 2:15 PM, 3:15 PM

The dome tour requires climbing 296 stairs, so it's advisable to wear comfortable shoes.

Other Amenities

The Visitor Center also has a gift shop and a café. The gift shop operates from 9 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday, and from 10 AM to 4 PM on Saturdays.
