Flint Hills National Scenic Byway

Flint Hills is one of the last remaining natural areas of the North American Great Plains, boasting beautiful prairie landscapes and a unique ecosystem.

This beautiful drive stretches along eastern Kansas, passing through one of the last remaining natural areas of the North American Great Plains. Spanning approximately 47 miles (about 76 km), this road offers both the beauty of nature and historical charm. The road runs north and south along K-177 Highway, allowing you to experience the majestic scenery and tranquil atmosphere of the plains.

You can enjoy driving, hiking, and bird watching, and it's worth visiting the Flint Hills Discovery Center to explore the region's natural history and culture. The changing scenery with the seasons is captivating, making it a place to truly feel the essence of the American Great Plains.

Spring and fall are the best seasons to visit, as the weather and scenery are at their most beautiful.


Monument Rocks

Located in western Kansas, these limestone pillars are a natural monument formed about 80 million years ago when this area was underwater. It's a great spot for photography, with unique terrain and natural sculptures. There are no significant man-made structures nearby, providing a serene atmosphere. Known as Kansas's pyramids, they were designated a National Natural Landmark in 2008.

The Cosmosphere is a world-class space science museum located in Kansas, collaborating with NASA to offer various exhibits related to space exploration.
