When living alone, you tend to try all sorts of things when you're bored.

Tarot cards are one of those things, and it's really just for fun.

Here in Texas, the atmosphere of Mexico and the U.S. blends strangely, making tarot reading feel natural.

When I go to the mall with friends, I often see tarot booths on the street.

When they are set up elaborately, it feels like a party item display where people are getting their fortunes told.

They even hold events like tarot nights at cafes, where they say things like, "You're going to travel soon," and get all excited themselves.

Listening to it, you might think, "Isn't that just a random word fest?" but it makes you laugh, and the fun atmosphere makes it all acceptable.

But even though tarot seems like a simple game, it surprisingly has a kind of power like a 'device of consciousness.'

For example, in ancient occult traditions, cards were seen as a 'conversation with the unconscious.'

You project the worries you usually try to ignore onto the cards and face them.

Realistically, tarot serves more as a mirror of your own heart rather than a mysterious tool for predicting the future.

I also felt that once. Last year, when I was confused about a relationship issue, a friend took me to get a tarot reading.

The card that came out was 'new beginning.' Honestly, I chuckled inside.

"New beginning? Everything is over now."

But that week, I actually got a new blind date, and my love life started again.

It could be a coincidence, but at that moment, it felt like the world had slightly peeked into my inner thoughts.

This seems to be the charm of tarot. Whether you believe it's magical or just a form of self-rationalization, what matters is that I received a revelation at that moment.

It feels like, 'the cards say what I want to hear.' So, in the end, tarot is a way to soothe your own heart.

For example, after a tough day at work, if I draw a card and keywords like 'rest' or 'balance' come up, at that moment, I think, "Yeah, today I'll just eat chicken and watch a drama," and rationalize it to myself.

That seems to be the power tarot gives in everyday life.

Even American friends pick a card like checking their daily fortune and refresh their mood.

When I see them posting card photos on Instagram with tags like #positivevibes, I think, haha

In the end, I believe it's just seeing what I want to hear through the cards.

Some people believe, and some don't, but if it's a tool to enjoy the atmosphere and comfort your heart, it's meaningful enough.

I just pick a card with friends when I'm bored, laugh, and go home thinking, "Will it be right this time?" enjoying it alone.

If the card drawn says, "A new love is coming," while looking at my current boyfriend, I'd laugh and think, "Then what is he?"

Perhaps that's the true charm of tarot. It's not about believing seriously, but about providing laughter and leisure, like a magic in daily life.

When you think about it, it seems that the important thing about tarot isn't predicting the future, but how I want to interpret today.

Enjoying the moment of interpretation while looking at the card pulled from my unconscious.

So, a few cards drawn for fun can unexpectedly create a big story.
