Today, I would like to learn about the state of Montana, located in the northwestern United States. The capital is Helena, and the name Montana is derived from the Spanish word 'montaña,' meaning 'mountain.' Montana is one of the states with a significant Native American population, making up 6.7% of its residents, and it is loved by many for its beautiful nature.

Montana covers an area of about 380,831 square kilometers, making it the fourth largest state in the U.S. The population is approximately 1.1 million, with major cities including Billings, Helena, and Missoula. Helena serves as the state capital and is the center of political and administrative activities.
The history of Montana is closely linked to the westward expansion and Native American culture. This area was home to several Native American tribes, including the Blackfeet, and the Lewis and Clark Expedition passed through here, marking an important milestone in the exploration of the American West. In 1889, Montana became the 41st state to join the United States and later prospered through mining and agriculture. Additionally, it is famous for its landscapes often mentioned in Western films and literature.
Montana is cherished for its natural beauty. Part of Yellowstone National Park is located here, and Glacier National Park boasts stunning landscapes of glaciers, mountain ranges, and pristine lakes. Big Sky is also renowned as a mecca for winter sports like skiing and snowboarding.
Montana has a continental climate, with stark differences in terrain between the western and eastern parts of the state. The western region features the rugged Rocky Mountains stretching from the northwest to the southeast, while the eastern part consists of vast prairies, resulting in warm summers and cold winters with plenty of clear weather. The average summer temperature ranges from about 20 to 25 degrees Celsius, while winter temperatures average between -10 and 0 degrees Celsius, providing an environment suitable for outdoor activities in all four seasons.
Montana has significant mineral resources with considerable mining potential, and vast farmlands occupy the wide plains, while the mountainous areas are covered with forests. As mentioned earlier, there are substantial deposits of coal and oil, and resources such as gold, silver, copper, and lead are also mined.
Agriculture primarily produces crops like wheat, barley, potatoes, and sugar beets, and livestock farming, particularly cattle and sheep, is prevalent. The industry is mainly centered around wood, with furniture and paper manufacturing being well-developed.
Food is also one of Montana's attractions. Steaks made from locally raised beef are a must-try, and unique dishes like buffalo burgers are popular. Additionally, locally brewed craft beer is a must-have.
Culturally, Montana is a state where art and tradition blend. The arts district in Missoula and the historic landmarks in Helena showcase the region's rich culture. The annual Montana State Fair is a popular event for both residents and visitors. The Western-style rodeo in Montana is one of the unique cultural events that must be experienced.
About 1,000 Koreans reside in Montana, with a Korean community centered around Billings and Missoula.
