It has been two years since I came to Jacksonville, Florida. I would like to introduce a place that I have really come to love.
It is the Dames Point Bridge, or officially known as the Napoleon Bonaparte Broward Bridge.
The name is a bit long, right? I also struggled to memorize it at first.
The Dames Point Bridge is something special.
If you just pass by, you might think, "Oh, that's nice," but after a few trips back and forth, you get captivated by its charm.
Especially at night when the lights come on, wow... it's really romantic.
My husband is not the sentimental type, but that day he unconsciously said, "This bridge is beautiful."
In fact, the first moment I thought, 'Wow... this is America,' was when I crossed this bridge.
It felt like a scene from a movie, with the open sky stretching above and the thrilling moment of crossing over the river.
Even while driving alone, I thought, "Wow, I'm feeling pretty cool right now."
And for those who, like me, enjoy their alone time, this bridge is a truly precious space.
When you turn on the radio in the car, slightly increase the volume, and cross the bridge, it just lifts your spirits.
I can't quite explain it, but crossing this bridge makes you feel better and okay.
This bridge cannot be crossed on foot. It is for vehicles only!
Just enjoy the view from your car and make sure to drive across.
And you must appreciate and take photos from the regular road after crossing the bridge.
Sometimes, while staring blankly at the boats passing under the bridge, I think, 'I want to go somewhere far away like that boat someday.'
It really stirs up the desire to travel. Of course, the reality is just a trip to Walmart for groceries. Haha.
Oh, and! For those coming to Jacksonville, if you ask, "Is there anything to see?" I definitely recommend this bridge.
Although it's not officially a tourist spot, those places tend to be more memorable, right?
This city is quiet, but within that quietness, there is a sense of scale, and the Dames Point Bridge showcases that best.
I will definitely come back here to see the night view again. If you ever come to Jacksonville, take a drive in the evening like I did. You might just get lost in the quiet atmosphere.
