When talking about El Paso, some people ask, "Is there a wealthy neighborhood there too?" Of course, there are upscale residential areas here as well.
Although El Paso has a strong image of being an affordable city, if you look a bit deeper, there are definitely neighborhoods with homes priced over $500,000 to $1,000,000.
One of the most frequently mentioned areas is the Country Club area in the west. When you go this way, the atmosphere is a bit different from the dense housing typical of a desert city. You can find spacious homes, large older houses, homes with pools, and newly built luxury homes.
In particular, looking at the 79922 ZIP Code that includes Country Club, the median listing price for mid-2026 is about $625,000. In fact, Country Club listings include homes priced from $569,000 to $896,000 and $985,000, with some new listings around $1,200,000. This is a completely different market when considering the overall home prices in El Paso.
Coronado Hills is also noteworthy. Located in the highlands around Franklin Mountain, it is a preferred area for those who value views. According to Redfin's data from March 2026, the recent median transaction price was a staggering $777,500. However, with only six transactions in a month, this number should not be taken as the general home price for the entire neighborhood. It is a small market where a few high-priced homes can significantly affect the median value.
Similarly, there are significant price differences in the Westside. The current median price for listings in High Ridge is about $659,000, while Bear Ridge is around $550,000.
On the other hand, the actual median transaction price in Mesa Hills for May 2026 was about $264,000. Therefore, rather than categorizing all of Mesa Hills as El Paso's top luxury neighborhood, it is more accurate to look at specific areas within the Westside where luxury homes are concentrated.

In El Paso, a $1,000,000 home feels quite substantial.
Currently, in the 79930 area, there is a 7,410 square foot home listed for $1,925,000.
In the 79912 area, there is also a 3,847 square foot home listed for $850,000.
There is an interesting point here.
In places like LA or San Francisco, it can be difficult to buy even an average home for $1,000,000, but in El Paso, a budget of around $1,000,000 changes the conversation completely. You can find homes with large lots and 3,000 to 4,000 square feet, complete with pools and high-end interiors.
Thus, the appeal of El Paso's upscale neighborhoods is not simply that they are "places where rich people live."
With the money to buy an average home in other major U.S. cities, you can choose a significantly higher quality living environment in El Paso.
Just because El Paso is considered affordable doesn't mean all homes are cheap.
There are homes in the $200,000 range, in the $500,000 range, and well-built luxury homes that easily exceed $1,000,000.
However, even with the same $1,000,000, what you can buy varies greatly.
That's a pretty interesting aspect when looking into El Paso real estate.
