When I actually visited Sedona, I found its size to be smaller than expected, which made it feel even more charming.
According to my search, the population is just over 10,000, and except for days when tourists flock in, it has a strong vibe of a quiet rural resort.
The downtown area is not large, so you can easily take a quick tour, and it feels completely natural to stop by a supermarket while looking at the red cliffs.
The way nature envelops the city and how people cautiously interact within it seemed to be a unique quiet charm of this place.
When thinking of Sedona tourism, the iconic rock formations come to mind first, with notable attractions like Cathedral Rock, Bell Rock, and the Chapel of the Holy Cross.
Each has a different shape and atmosphere, appearing to have its own character, and as time passes, the red hues gradually change, making it hard not to take photos.
While climbing rocks or hiking trails to experience nature is great, one of the best things about Sedona is that stunning scenery follows you even if you just walk aimlessly. Just strolling along the neighborhood paths, you'll find the red cliffs as a backdrop and discover the rock formations rising above the town.
What was particularly impressive was the small shopping mall located right next to the red rock formations. Unlike the bustling malls typically found in big cities, it has a cozy atmosphere where shops are tastefully gathered inside a beautiful lodge. Being right next to the rocks, sipping coffee on the terrace gives the illusion of having a table set in a natural park.

Most of the shops sell works by local artists, jewelry, and nature-themed items, with a notable abundance of turquoise and silver crafts, making it enjoyable to browse.
Each decorative item feels more like a piece of living art that captures the local atmosphere rather than a common souvenir from a travel destination.
Looking towards the rock formations from the mall, you can see the rocks standing like a massive wall behind the buildings, with clouds slowly drifting above them. Gazing at that scenery gives you the feeling that you are not just out shopping but resting in nature. Sedona is a place where the city is not just a backdrop to nature, but rather, the city feels like a piece of nature itself.
Sedona is remembered not for its size, but for its colors, atmosphere, and daily life close to nature. The moment a small town feels large, Sedona's charm becomes even clearer, and the small mall next to the cliffs and rock formations allows you to truly appreciate that charm.
