Sometimes when I'm watching YouTube and 'Blue Tower' pops up, I honestly click on it again even though I've seen it before.
When I think about it, it's not just that 'Blue Tower' is funny; it's that moments keep popping up that make me think, "Oh, that really happened back then."
I tell myself I'll just watch for five minutes before going to bed, but before I know it, I've already been clicking "next video" for an hour.
It's really frustrating. But I'm still laughing to myself for no reason.
I've definitely seen this scene at least two or three times... At this point, I'm confused about whether I'm the weird one or if this is just strange.
But it's not just because it's military humor.
The essence of this work is that it's a parody of 'White Tower.'
Originally, it took a heavy and tragic medical drama about human desires and frustrations and placed it in a military barracks.
The same serious background music plays, the camera zooms in at an angle that shakes the viewer, and the characters' expressions are captured... but the arguments are about the menu for the day.
At the moments when it should be serious, it bursts out laughing, and in situations where it shouldn't, it bursts out even more.
This is strangely addictive. Once you start, you watch until the end.

The characters are even more ridiculous. It's unclear who the main character is.
Whether they're a seasoned soldier or a rookie, they all act the same. There are ranks, but when you look closely, they're all in the same situation. That's just how the military is.
Outside, they might be the son of a CEO or pursuing a PhD, but inside, they're all wearing the same uniform and doing laundry together.
Whether they're smart or not, everyone is lined up to eat. 'Blue Tower' captures that perfectly.
The exaggerated acting also plays a part. Honestly, it's not normal acting. The expressions and delivery are all a bit off.
But the military environment itself can't be expressed normally. No matter how much you explain it to someone who hasn't been there, they won't understand.
It's a place where perfectly normal adults come together and do absurd things seriously. To portray that accurately, it has to be exaggerated like this.
Those who have experienced it laugh and say, "That's actually less exaggerated."
The reason this is possible is that the production team has real experience. It's not just made up; it's based on actual stories from military life, so the details are different.
And there's something truly funny about it. Why do veterans still watch this? It's simple. Even after the military ends, it doesn't end in your mind.
Even after more than ten years since discharge, it sometimes comes up in dreams.

I'm clearly a civilian, but I'm sitting back in the barracks, and even though I'm at the end of my service, I suddenly find myself back as a private.
The supply officer is calling, and it's time for roll call, but I can't find my boots.
I wake up sweating, looking at the ceiling, and for a while, I don't know where I am. Everyone experiences this at some point. It's not funny; it's a bit scary.
But when I watch 'Blue Tower,' those uncomfortable memories are strangely organized.
Catchphrases also play a role. Many people still have phrases like "What the heck" stuck in their mouths.
This has solidified into a meme that has survived to this day. Nowadays, content evaporates in a week, but this strangely doesn't disappear.
What's interesting is that this isn't just content for veterans. Even people who haven't served in the military watch it and laugh.
Even if the situation itself is unfamiliar, the relationships and emotions are relatable, so it draws you in. That's why it has become a widely viewed drama among people in their 20s and 30s.
Even former officers say they relate to it, which shows that this is just a well-made piece of work.
In the end, 'Blue Tower' is a military story, but it's not just a military story. It's a story about the people within it. That's why, even after time passes, people keep coming back to it. You watch it while laughing, and then you have moments where you think, "Oh right, I went through that too."
And then you find yourself grumbling while watching it again.
In fact, those who watch it while complaining are the most loyal viewers.
