Burlington is a suburban city of Boston, but it is a city with active events and community activities.

It may feel like a calm residential area, but in reality, there are various events held throughout the seasons, providing opportunities for residents to gather and enjoy. Instead of the glamorous festivals of large cities, the charm of Burlington lies in the many events that reflect the local community spirit.

Spring in Burlington is the season when flowers bloom in every park and the walkways become crowded with people. A representative event held during this time is the Burlington Clean Up Green Up Day. This event, which takes place around mid-April each year, is a local environmental cleanup campaign where citizens voluntarily gather to pick up trash around parks and roads and plant flowers. Students, parents, and corporate volunteer teams all participate, and at the end of the event, lunch is provided to participants at the town hall.

As spring comes to an end, Burlington Town Day takes place. This event is one of the largest local festivals in Burlington, held on a weekend at the end of May or the beginning of June in Simonds Park. Local businesses and organizations set up booths to sell various experience programs and food, and there are play facilities for children, performances by local bands, and outdoor dance stages.

In summer, the Summer Concert Series, organized by the town hall and the park management office, takes place every Thursday evening from June to August in Simonds Park. It features free performances by local musicians, and many citizens enjoy picnicking on the lawn while listening to live music. At the same time, an outdoor movie screening called Movies in the Park is also held.

Another popular summer event is the 4th of July Fireworks Celebration. On the evening of July 4th, which is Independence Day in the United States, this fireworks event takes place in a field near Burlington High School and is famous enough to attract visitors from nearby cities. Local band performances, food trucks, and ice cream stands create a festive atmosphere throughout the day.

Fall is the season when Burlington shines most beautifully and is rich in cultural events. A representative event is the Harvest Festival. Held around mid-September each year, this flea market-style event sells local produce and handmade crafts. Residents sell homemade jams, handmade chocolates, pumpkin pies, and candles, while children can enjoy activities like pumpkin decorating or mini petting zoo experiences. Additionally, during this time, the Burlington Public Library Book Sale is also held, where the local library hosts a used book sale, allowing people to purchase a variety of books from classic literature to children's books at affordable prices.

In early December, the Burlington Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony takes place. This event, held in front of the Burlington Town Hall, gathers residents to light the Christmas tree, and a local choir sings carols. Santa Claus distributes gifts to children, and the town hall provides warm cocoa and cookies. It is a small but heartfelt event that many families attend each year.

Also, during winter, Ice Skating at Simonds Park takes place. When the weather gets cold enough, the city opens an outdoor skating rink in the park, and every weekend, a skate night event with music and lights is held.

Thus, the events in Burlington may not be large in scale, but they are alive with the participation of local residents and a warm community spirit. We encourage you to participate and enjoy the rich local culture.
