I visited the Mohawk-Hudson Bike-Hike Trail, known as a treasure of New York.

This trail, connecting Albany and Schenectady in New York, stretches about 97 miles, or 156 km, along the Hudson and Mohawk Rivers. The charm I felt while walking here was that it is not just a simple exercise course but a special space where nature and history blend together. Every time the river breeze touched my face, my mind cleared, and the scenery along the riverbank felt like walking inside a painting.

As I walked, I noticed traces of New York's industrial era and the historical remnants of the canal, creating a feeling of the past and present overlapping in one frame. The expression of a path where the city meets nature fits perfectly. The Corning Preserve section on the Albany side has an urban atmosphere, making it a great place for jogging or biking along the riverbank.

On the other hand, the Lions Park section in Niskayuna is much quieter and more peaceful, allowing for a leisurely walk while listening to the sounds of birds and the wind. I visited for a stroll, but there were many people biking or jogging, and families walking with children could be seen everywhere. Most sections are paved, so beginners can enjoy it without difficulty.

There are benches and picnic tables set up in various places, making it easy to take breaks along the way. I thought I must bring my bike next time. The Mohawk-Hudson Trail is special for its historical value. This path is the eastern end of the Erie Canalway Trail and part of the Empire State Trail, formed along the Erie Canal in the past.

Traces of the canal that led New York's industrial development remain, giving a feeling of time travel. It was impressive that the former industrial path has now been reborn as a space for citizens to relax. A few tips: since the trail is long, be sure to bring water and snacks, and visiting in the morning or evening offers cooler weather and a pleasant number of people.

And above all, please take your trash with you to keep nature clean. The Mohawk-Hudson Bike-Hike Trail is not just a walking path but a place where you can experience both nature and history while gaining mental healing.

If you plan to travel to New York's Capital District, I highly recommend walking this trail.
