When you first walk on Waikiki Beach, there comes a moment when anyone might think, "Ah, so this is Hawaii."
The breeze is pleasantly warm, the ocean is bluer than in photos, and the building that stands out in the middle is Sheraton Waikiki.
What's interesting about this hotel is that it's not just noticeable because it's big and nice. The location is truly unbeatable.
It's right in the center of Waikiki Beach, so as you walk around, it's always in your line of sight.
It naturally makes you wonder, "What would it feel like to stay there?"
It opened in 1971, and the fact that it has maintained its presence here for so long gives it a strangely reassuring vibe.
With over 1,600 rooms, it's hard to grasp the size, but once you visit, you can't help but exclaim, "Wow, it's really big."
However, interestingly, it doesn't feel chaotic; it feels like a space where people flow naturally.
When you take the elevator up and open the door, most rooms have an ocean view. The moment you wake up in the morning and open the window, you're greeted by the Pacific Ocean.
At that moment, you feel that the cost of your stay is already worth it.
The most photographed spot here is the infinity pool. It looks like the water endlessly merges with the ocean.
Once you get in, the feeling is even stronger. Leaning at the edge of the pool and looking at the ocean, you hardly feel the boundary.
Being in the water feels like floating above the ocean. Holding a beer there, honestly, you think of nothing else.
There's also a bar where you can order directly from the water. At first, you might think, "What is this?" but once you try it, it's surprisingly nice.
Swimming over to the bar to order a drink and then returning to the water feels very natural. It's a little luxury you experience while traveling.

You can't forget about the food. There are quite a few decent restaurants inside the hotel.
There are seafood-focused menus and a luau-style dinner where you can enjoy Hawaiian performances while eating.
Honestly, the food isn't mind-blowingly amazing, but the atmosphere contributes a lot.
With the wind blowing, music playing, and the ocean in view, does the food need to be perfect? The situation itself is the flavor.
Many weddings are held here. It's just like the scenes you see in dramas. A bride in a dress standing in front of the ocean, with the sunset sky behind her.
The rates at Sheraton Waikiki are pricier than expected, but they are reasonable by Hawaii standards.
Looking at the rooms, city view or mountain view rooms start at around $340 to $400.
Ocean view or partial ocean view rooms go for over $450 to $500.
Suites start at over $970, so unless it's a special occasion, it's a bit of a stretch to choose them.
The important point here is that "the listed price is not the end."
Hawaii has separate lodging and sales taxes, which add about 18% on top.
Additionally, there's a resort fee. It's about $52 to $60 per day, and when you check out, it adds up surprisingly.
Parking isn't free either. Self-parking is about $55 per day, and valet is around $65, so if you're using a rental car, you need to consider this cost as well.
Still, considering the location and experience, the price feels like it's worth it at least once.
You can also use Marriott Bonvoy points, so if you have them saved up, it can be a bit less burdensome.
Waking up in the morning to see the ocean, going to the pool during the day, and enjoying a drink while watching the sunset in the evening... the day just fills up naturally.
There are many good hotels in Waikiki. There are newer and more luxurious places as well.
However, this hotel feels familiar even if it's your first time, and I think it would feel even better if you visit again.
