After driving for about an hour while looking at Google Maps, I arrived in Fish Creek, and the late summer breeze coming through the windows truly elevated my travel mood.
When you think of Door County, most people picture cherry farms and clear lakes, but Fish Creek has a unique charm where tranquility coexists with the vibrancy of a tourist spot.
I parked at a small harbor and slowly walked in, feeling the wind mixed with the scent of wood, while yachts gently swayed on the calm waves. Along the road, there were small shops like cafes, galleries, and workshops lined up, making it enjoyable to visit each one.
At a shop selling glass art, I bought a small cup as a souvenir, as the owner mentioned they made it themselves, and at the nearby cafe, I tried a local cherry pie that was not overly sweet and left a subtle tartness in my mouth.
I also took a walk in Fish Creek State Park, where the forest path was quieter than I expected, and the occasional views of the lakeside made me want to click the camera shutter.
When I sat down for a moment and dipped my feet in the water, I was surprised by how cold it was, but that made me feel even more refreshed. In the evening, this small town transforms into a different atmosphere, and when the red sunset reflects on the water's surface, I feel like I want to pause time while sitting at the harbor.
I booked a small inn nearby, and at night, leaving the window open allowed the sounds of the wind and waves to blend, making me feel like I had stepped into another world from the concrete jungle I lived in. The highlight of the trip was the moment I woke up early the next morning and saw the misty lake.
The sun slowly rose above the hazy horizon, and the calmness and cool air wrapped around me, making me feel refreshed deep inside.

As the name suggests, it is a space that combines an orchard and a winery, and instead of a bustling tourist atmosphere, it first feels like a cozy family-run farm. Upon entering, a subtle scent of cherries wafts through the air, and inside the market, jars of jam and jelly, apple and cherry wines, and souvenir snacks are neatly displayed.
Wine tasting can be enjoyed without any elaborate procedures; just tell the staff, and you can start right away. As you casually taste a glass in the tasting area converted from an old barn, you might find yourself filling a basket with a few bottles before you know it.
Especially, the cherry wine is the most famous, sweet yet subtly refreshing, making it perfect for summer travel. If you go outside, there is a walking path between the orchards, so if you buy a bottle of wine and take two glasses to sit down a bit, that's the true Door County experience.
It's a great place for couples or family trips, and even if you just stop by saying, "Shall we take a quick look?" you can enjoy it enough.
If you visit during the season, you can also experience cherry and apple harvesting, so I definitely want to go back next time during that period.
