What is Reincarnation – The concept of 'the same soul being born again in another body'
In Eastern religions such as Buddhism, Hinduism, and Taoism, reincarnation is seen as a cycle of life and death.
In other words, when a person dies, it is not the end, but rather the soul or consciousness is reborn into another being.
This is connected to a kind of karma system.
"The actions in this life determine the conditions of the next life."
But the problem is...
Does the "soul" actually exist?
Is it possible for the existence of "me" to be maintained in the next life?
Modern neuroscience denies these concepts.
When the brain dies, consciousness disappears.
However, if we apply the multiverse theory to this... the perspective changes completely.
In quantum mechanics, any event can result in multiple outcomes probabilistically.
For example, I could trip while walking down the street, or I might not.
The multiverse theory states that there exists a universe where both scenarios actually occur.
So, what about the moment we die?
Both the outcome of dying and the outcome of not dying exist.
In other words, in universe A, I died, but,
in universe B, I avoided the accident, and,
in universe C, the accident happened, but I miraculously survived...
So what is death?
Perhaps it is "my consciousness being cut off in universe A and continuing into universe B".
Traditionally, we think of reincarnation as
"me dying and being reborn as another being".
However, in the multiverse interpretation, it could be that the dead 'me' continues into the consciousness of another 'me' who made different choices or lived a different life.
For example,
-
In universe A, I died in a car accident
-
In universe B, I arrived safely at the hospital and lived
-
In universe C, the accident never happened
Among these, the consciousness of me that died in universe A has ended, but my self-aware consciousness may have continued into universe B.
So reincarnation is,
"a structure where I cannot die"
because there is always a universe where I survive"
This aligns with the theory of 'Quantum Immortality'.
So how do we interpret "reincarnation as becoming another person"?
Some might ask this.
"I am a person A, but I could be born as a completely different person B, a dog, or even a bug in the next life.
Isn't this not just a continuation of my universe but a complete change into another being?"
This can be understood by broadening the scale of the multiverse.
The universe is not just a replication of "the current me", but rather a state where all possibilities exist, and all paths of consciousness are present.
Within it:
-
There is a me born into a different body and environment than I am now
-
A me with a different gender, race, and era
-
A me born as a non-human being
All these possible flows of consciousness can exist.
Then reincarnation can also be interpreted as:
"Death is not the end of consciousness,
but a connection to another state of consciousness in the infinite multiverse."And we feel that as "being born into another life".
In the end, does the soul exist?
At this point, an important philosophical question arises.
-
"Is the soul something unchanging?"
-
Or is it that the consciousness I feel as 'me' simply moves between universes?"
In the multiverse interpretation, the soul does not need to be a 'single entity'.
Rather, consciousness can be seen as a wave that chooses paths through the universe, living each moment.
The soul is neither material nor fixed, but could be a vibration flowing like a wave.
Conclusion
-
Traditional reincarnation is "my soul being reborn in another body".
-
Multiverse reincarnation is "my consciousness continuing into another universe".
-
Death is the end of one universe and the beginning of another.
-
The soul is not a fixed entity, but rather a flow of information or a wave.
From this perspective, death is not to be feared.
We will always be connected to some form of me that is alive.
