Big Ben is an iconic architectural structure representing London, originally named Elizabeth Tower. However, as people began to refer to the large bell on the clock tower as Big Ben, this name became more widely known.

The iconic clock tower of London, Big Ben, underwent extensive renovations from August 2017 to the second quarter of 2022, lasting about four years. This project aimed to address issues due to the aging of the clock tower, improve safety and fire prevention systems, and enhance energy efficiency. Notably, it included corrosion prevention for the clock tower roof, leak prevention for the stone structure, and the installation of an internal elevator.

During the renovation period, the sound of Big Ben's bell was halted for safety reasons, and repairs and adjustments were made to the hour and minute hands of the clock. As a result, the period without hearing Big Ben's bell was prolonged.

The renovation was completed in the second quarter of 2022, and since then, the sound of Big Ben's bell has begun to resonate again. This allows Londoners and visitors to once again hear the iconic chime of Big Ben.
