When I first started watching football, I was just excited about touchdowns and who won the game, but now I pay attention to how the defense moves before the quarterback throws the ball.
It's been quite a while since I started watching Cowboys games while living in Dallas. Sunday afternoons spent on the sofa watching football are better than most outings.
I recently looked at the NFL Week 6 fantasy football quarterback rankings released by NBC Sports, and some players' positions are quite interesting.
First, one thing to note is that fantasy football rankings do not list quarterbacks based on their actual skills from first to last.
Fantasy football is a game where players score points based on passing yards, touchdowns, rushing yards, and other statistics recorded in actual games.
Therefore, the ability to lead a team to victory does not necessarily align with fantasy points.
For example, a quarterback who throws for 250 yards and leads their team to victory might score lower in fantasy than a quarterback who throws for 300 yards and also records rushing touchdowns.
This week's number one is Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills. It's not surprising that Allen is in first place.
He is big and has a strong arm, plus he excels at running with the ball. From the defense's perspective, he is a headache to deal with because they have to stop both his passing and running.
This week's opponent is the Las Vegas Raiders. Quarterbacks like Allen, who have good rushing ability, can expect to score consistently high points in fantasy.

Matthew Stafford in second place is a different type of quarterback. The LA Rams' Stafford does not run much; he relies on accurate passing and game management.
However, this year, the number of passes he attempts is enormous. At his current pace, he could attempt 734 passes this season, a significant increase from last year's 597.
The important thing here is the number of pass attempts. No matter how good a quarterback is, if they have fewer opportunities to throw the ball, it's hard to accumulate fantasy points.
The Rams' defense has not held up as expected, forcing the offense to score more points. As a result, Stafford has to keep throwing the ball.
This week's opponent, the Arizona Cardinals, also has a poor pass defense, which explains his high ranking.
The player I'm most interested in this week is Drake Maye from New England. He is ranked an impressive 4th.
Looking at just the first three games of the season, it would have been hard to predict this ranking.
However, in the last two games, he has recorded the 2nd and 1st highest fantasy quarterback scores overall. Such changes are significant for a young quarterback.
In the NFL, a quarterback is not just someone who throws the ball far.
They must quickly assess how many defenders are coming to block the pass, where the pressure will come from, and when the receiver will move into open space.
Maye has recently shown improvement in these assessments and has also demonstrated the ability to run and gain yards.
This week's opponent is the New York Jets. The Jets' pass defense is better than expected, so it won't be an easy game.
Still, based on recent performance, I don't think the 4th place ranking is overly exaggerated.

Brock Purdy from San Francisco is in 3rd place. Watching Purdy makes me think that, for a quarterback, accurate judgment is just as important as having a strong arm.
He is a player who efficiently attacks by finding gaps in the defense rather than forcing difficult passes.
However, injuries on the offensive line are a concern. With Deebo Samuel out due to a hamstring injury, the health of the players who can catch the ball has become crucial.
No matter how good a quarterback is, if the receivers can't perform, there's nothing they can do.
As a Dallas fan, the player I'm most concerned about is Dak Prescott.
This week, he is ranked 7th, and his opponent is the Green Bay Packers. Interestingly, Green Bay's Jordan Love is ranked 5th.
Personally, I find it quite difficult to evaluate Dak Prescott. Based on the stats, he is a pretty good quarterback. He throws well and has plenty of game management experience.
The problem is that he can perform well throughout the game but then falter on crucial third downs or make mistakes when points are needed, which frustrates fans.
A third down is the third opportunity for the offensive team to gain a new 10 yards. If they fail here, they usually have to give up possession, making the quarterback's judgment especially important.
What Dallas fans want from Dak is not a flashy record of throwing for 400 yards every game. It's about continuing the offense in critical moments and winning the games they need to win.
Having been a Dallas fan for a long time, I have come to realize that winning is more important than personal records.
Especially for Cowboys fans, it's well known that flashy numbers accumulated during the regular season are not enough to be satisfied.
