Panda Express Finally Opens at San Antonio Airport Terminal A - San Antonio - 1

Panda Express has opened at San Antonio Airport Terminal A after announcing construction a while back.

While having a Panda Express at an American airport may not seem like a big deal, I find it quite welcome.

San Antonio Airport hasn't had many options for Korean travelers looking for familiar food.

There were only Whataburger and some local food options. Especially when traveling with kids, there was nothing to eat at the airport.

Adults can just grab a coffee and board the plane, but it's much more comforting to feed the kids before departure.

However, airport food can be something kids dislike, and domestic flight meals can be ridiculously expensive, so we often end up feeding them before arriving at the airport.

With Panda Express now available, this has become a bit easier. Orange chicken with fried rice or chow mein is something the kids can eat without much resistance, and it's a decent meal for adults too.

It's not about having a fantastic restaurant; it's about having one more option to eat quickly and conveniently before traveling.

I usually don't arrive early at San Antonio Airport. The airport itself isn't very complicated, and with TSA PreCheck, security checks often go quite quickly.

However, when traveling with kids, I now think it's okay to arrive about an hour early.

We can go through security at Terminal A, eat at Panda Express, and then board the plane. It's much better to have a meal before departure than to search for snacks on the plane when hungry.

As you know, one of the characteristics of San Antonio Airport is that it is not a hub for transfers. This means the airport is primarily for departures or arrivals.

It has a different character compared to airports like Dallas DFW or Houston IAH, where many people gather to catch connecting flights.

These days, airports are continuously changing. New restaurants are opening in Terminal A, and expansion construction is ongoing.

By 2026, the expanded area of Terminal A will open, and in the long term, a new Terminal C with 18 gates is planned to be built.

For those who remember the old San Antonio Airport, it will feel quite different in a few years.

Now, if you're flying from Terminal A, you can arrive a bit early, eat orange chicken and fried rice at Panda Express, visit the restroom, and then board your flight.

I think San Antonio Airport is becoming more convenient to use, and I like it.
