Chino Traffic Situation — Is It Hard to Live Without a Car? - Chino - 1

It would be nice if the subway system were as well-developed as in LA, but in most cities in Southern California, living without a car is quite difficult.

What about Chino? To put it simply, Chino is a car-centric city.

It is quite inconvenient to manage daily life solely with public transportation. The Omnitrans bus operates major routes within Chino and connects to nearby Ontario and Pomona, but the service intervals are long and coverage is limited. There are no Metrolink commuter train stops in Chino. The nearest Metrolink stations are in nearby Pomona (North Pomona or Pomona station) or you have to head towards Rancho Cucamonga.

Highway access is actually quite good. The 60 (Pomona Freeway), 71 (Chino Valley Freeway), and 83 (Central Ave) run through or are adjacent to Chino, making it convenient for driving. It takes about 10 minutes by car to Ontario International Airport (ONT). It's about a 35-40 minute drive to downtown LA via the highway, but during rush hour, it can take over an hour.

In fact, I initially tried to live by bus, but I gave up after a month. Living in this area without a car makes everything inconvenient. Picking up kids from school, grocery shopping, visiting the doctor... everything runs smoothly only if you have a car. So if you're planning to move to Chino, I strongly recommend preparing to buy or rent a car first. Which do you prefer, public transportation or commuting by car? Let me know in the comments!
