Today, I'm going to introduce a side dish that you can quickly make with ingredients you have at home~
Once you make it, this refreshing and sweet seaweed salad will last for a few days~
Surprisingly simple, but if you're not confident in your cooking skills, it might be a bit challenging.
Still, it's the kind of side dish that you can't help but keep reaching for when it's on the table.
First, prepare about one bowl of dried seaweed and soak it in water for about 15 minutes~
I usually soak it and prepare the other ingredients in the meantime, haha.
During that time, chop half an onion and one spicy pepper, and it'll be just right~
But I like spicy food, so I added a little jalapeño. If you enjoy spicy flavors, you can add a whole one for extra taste.
If you don't like the spiciness of the onion, soaking it in cold water for about 10 minutes will make it much milder~ This is a handy tip, haha.

Now, let's make the dressing~
2 tablespoons of gochujang, 1 tablespoon of gochugaru, 3 tablespoons of vinegar,
1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 tablespoon of plum extract, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, ½ tablespoon of minced garlic, 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds
Put the above ingredients in a bowl and mix well~
At this point, taste it and adjust according to your preference.
The soaked seaweed will be briefly blanched in boiling water~ At this time, add a pinch of salt~
This will enhance the color and significantly reduce any fishy smell. Blanch it in boiling water for about 30 seconds.
Don't cook it too long, or it will become tough~
After blanching, rinse the seaweed in cold water to cool it down and squeeze out the excess water, haha.
If you don't squeeze it out properly, it will end up bland later, so make sure to do it~
Place it on a cutting board and chop it into bite-sized pieces for convenience.

Now everything is ready~
Add the onion and pepper to the seaweed, pour in the dressing you made, and quickly mix it all together.
This is where you need to add a little bit of your personal touch. Sprinkle some sesame seeds and taste it to see if it's to your liking.
And just like that, you have a really simple seaweed salad~
The well-soaked seaweed combined with the crunchy onion texture makes it a perfect side dish for rice.
It tastes even better when you store it in the fridge and eat it later~
If you're struggling with what to make for a side dish today, give this a try.
