Shocking news has emerged that Mexican drug cartels have directed attacks using drones equipped with bombs targeting US border patrols. This has occurred as the Trump administration has intensified enforcement at the southern border.
According to the New York Post, an internal memo titled "Officer Safety Alert" mentioned these threats, and warnings were issued to federal agents based on social media posts and other sources. Border patrol agents have been instructed to remain vigilant, wear bulletproof vests, and use long-range firearms.
The memo stated, "On February 1, 2025, the El Paso (EPT-IOC) Border Patrol Intelligence and Operations Center received information that the Mexican cartel leadership has authorized the use of drones equipped with explosives against US border patrol agents and US military personnel operating in border areas."
Additionally, it included a recommendation that "all border patrol agents and Department of Defense personnel working at the border should immediately report any sightings of drones to the appropriate reporting line and EPT-IOC."
This news was reported by Fox News Digital and News Nation, particularly highlighting that Mexican drug cartels are inciting illegal immigrants on social media platforms like TikTok to spit on ICE agents, urinate, and defecate inside vehicles.
Moreover, there are reports that the cartels have instructed assassins to target border patrol agents. In fact, last week, border patrol agents were shot at by members of the Mexican cartel in Fronton, Texas, as announced by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). The cartel members reportedly fled to an island between the US and Mexico due to operations by the Mexican military.
These threats have arisen as the Trump administration has intensified deportation operations targeting individuals with criminal records among illegal immigrants and has enforced stricter security at the southern border. The memo indicated that cartel leaders are aware that strengthening the border will reduce profits from drug trafficking and illegal immigration across the border.
Meanwhile, Senator Mike Lee of Utah has proposed legalizing private mercenary operations targeting drug cartels. As the situation becomes increasingly serious, it seems we should pay attention to how not only border patrol but also overall US border security measures will change.
