Guide to Preferred Living Areas by School District in Victorville, CA - Victorville - 1

When I moved to Victorville, I looked at schools before I looked at houses. I'll share my firsthand experiences with you.

The most important factor when choosing a neighborhood in Victorville based on school districts is which Elementary School District you belong to.

High schools are mostly grouped under VVUHSD (Victor Valley Union High School District), so there isn't much difference, but elementary schools are divided into Victor Elementary School District and Adelanto Elementary School District.

Even within Victorville, just one street can change which school you are assigned to. It's amazing how a difference of just one block can determine your fate!

The areas rumored to have good school districts are the new development areas in the east and north of Victorville.

Especially around Spring Valley Lake! This area has a gated community vibe by the lake, and parents are very invested in education, with assigned schools scoring 7-8 on GreatSchools.

The areas north of Nisqualli Road and around Eagle Ranch also have many new developments, so the school facilities are up-to-date.

I know a mom of one of my child's friends who lives there, and she says the school PTA is active and the community among parents is strong.

On the other hand, you should be cautious about areas near downtown and west of I-15.

Those areas may have lower home prices that can be tempting, but there are many older homes and school ratings can be as low as 3-4. To be honest, some neighborhoods have safety concerns as well. I've seen many people regret their decision to rent there after sending their kids to school.

Here's a tip! Make sure to do this before you move.

First, check the assigned school ratings by entering your address on GreatSchools.org!

Second, visit the official sites of VVUHSD and Victor Elementary to see the "School Locator" for your exact assigned school. Don't just rely on online reviews.

Third, if possible, visit the school in person!

If you go to the office and request a tour, they are usually very friendly and accommodating. Just observing the playground atmosphere, the cleanliness of the restrooms, and the expressions of the teachers can give you a good sense of the place.

And the most important thing! Be sure to listen to the advice of experienced Korean community moms. Their insights about "my child attended that school" are a hundred times more accurate than online ratings.

Also, check if the school has a good ESL program in advance. Our kids need time to adjust to English, and the level of ESL support varies significantly from school to school.

Lastly, home prices really vary depending on the school district.

The Spring Valley Lake area is often $50,000 to $70,000 more expensive than downtown, but considering that our kids will be attending school for 6 to 12 years, that money is definitely worth it.

It's much more economical to choose a good school district from the start than to make up for it with tutoring fees later.

Since it's about our children's future, make sure to do thorough research and make a good decision!
