There are quite a few people who don't know that there are hotels in Flushing. I also thought it was normal to just stay in Manhattan at first, but it turns out there are some reasonably sized hotels near the Korean Town in Flushing. I thought it would be useful for those who have family visiting or need to host guests for an extended period, so I've put together some information.
First of all, the largest and most well-known place is not the Hilton New York JFK Airport in downtown Flushing, but the accommodations near Flushing Meadows Corona Park. In fact, the most prominent large hotel in Flushing is the Hilton chain hotel also known as the New Yorker Hotel Flushing. The exact name is Everrich Inn Flushing, or there are mid-range boutique hotels like the Kkotgaram Hotel, but the most noticeable place in terms of size is the Courtyard by Marriott New York Queens/Flushing, located near Main Street in Flushing. It has over 200 rooms and allows the use of Marriott Bonvoy points, making it popular for business trips or family visits. It features a fitness center and a business center, and it's within walking distance of the Flushing Main Street station, making it convenient for travel.
The second largest place is the Home2 Suites by Hilton New York Queens/Jamaica, which is also nearby, but closer to the core commercial area of Flushing are the Queens Nightly chain or the New York Sky Hotel. In particular, there is a growing trend of boutique hotels near the food alley in Flushing's Korean Town, among which The Flushing Hotel has been frequently mentioned in the Korean community recently. It has around 80 to 100 rooms, but the interior is modern, and there are cases where front desk staff can speak a little Korean, which is great for hosting parents who may not be comfortable with English.
The price range varies depending on the season and booking time, but the Courtyard Marriott averages around $150 to $200 per night, while mid-sized boutique hotels often range from $100 to $150. Prices increase significantly during peak seasons like summer, Thanksgiving, and the year-end holidays. Flushing offers more affordable accommodation compared to Manhattan, and you can easily access Manhattan tourist spots via the 7 train, making it a good value choice. Plus, the convenience of being able to step out for Korean food is another advantage. Consider this option the next time your family visits New York.
