When living in Centreville, you usually don't pay much attention to where the hospitals are when you're feeling fine.
However, if you suddenly get very sick or need to go to the emergency room at night, that's when the problem arises.
"Where should I go?"
While searching on your phone, someone next to you is in pain, and it can be confusing to know how far each hospital is and whether they have an emergency room.
That's why I think it's a good idea to check the locations of major hospitals in advance, not just the grocery store and gas station when you move.
There are a few notable large hospitals around Centreville.
The first one I remember is Inova Fair Oaks Hospital.
It's a comprehensive hospital that is relatively easy to access from Centreville and has a 24-hour emergency room. It has over 170 beds and offers various services, including emergency care, obstetrics, intensive care, and rehabilitation.
In particular, it has consistently received good ratings for hospital safety, making it a familiar name for those who have lived in Centreville or Fairfax for a long time.
The second is StoneSprings Hospital Center, located near Dulles.
This hospital opened relatively recently in 2015, so it definitely feels modern when you first visit.
It has a 24-hour emergency room and provides orthopedic, cardiovascular, and surgical services.

It also has facilities and programs related to robotic surgery, making it a viable option to consider for surgeries or specific treatments.
The third is Reston Hospital Center.
While it's a bit further up than the first two hospitals from Centreville, it's good to know if you work in Reston or see specialists in that area.
It's a large hospital that offers various services, including emergency care, intensive care, surgery, and obstetrics, so there may be times when you need to go there depending on the situation.
Of course, you don't need to go to these large hospitals every time you catch a cold or have a little back pain.
There are many Primary Care and Urgent Care facilities within Centreville for routine care, as well as outpatient facilities like UVA Health Family and Sports Medicine Centreville.
What I've realized after living in the U.S. for a long time is that knowing just one famous hospital isn't enough.
It's good to distinguish where the nearest emergency room is, where your regular doctor is, and which hospital to consider if you need surgery or specialized treatment.
This is especially true if you have children or live with your parents.
You don't want to be Googling 'Emergency Room near me' at 2 AM when a family member suddenly gets sick.
If you've moved to Centreville, it's great to save your favorite restaurants, but make sure to pin at least three hospitals on your phone's map in advance.
