The airport code is RSW. It may seem like a small regional airport, but it is larger than expected, with over 11 million passengers in 2025.
From downtown Fort Myers, it takes about 20 minutes depending on traffic, and it is easily accessible from I-75. This airport serves not only Fort Myers but also residents of Cape Coral, Estero, Bonita Springs, and Naples, making it a central airport for Southwest Florida.
The airport structure consists of a large main terminal with three concourses: B, C, and D. To think of it in a Korean way, instead of having three separate terminals, you can consider it as one building divided into B, C, and D areas based on the airline.
Currently, Concourse B serves airlines like Southwest, Frontier, Alaska, Allegiant, and Air Canada, while Concourse C has Delta and United. Concourse D includes American, JetBlue, and Breeze.
So when you arrive at the airport, you should first check whether your airline's concourse is B, C, or D.
Unlike huge hub airports like Atlanta or DFW, where you have to take a train between terminals, this airport is relatively easy to navigate for first-time visitors.
However, as of 2026, terminal expansion construction is underway, so some corridors and security checkpoint locations may temporarily change.
The airport recommends arriving at least 2 hours before departure to get through security, so it's best not to be too leisurely during peak seasons.

Parking is quite simple. Right in front of the airport is the Short-term Parking Garage.
You can walk to the terminal, making it convenient for dropping off family or for short trips of 1-2 days.
The first 20 minutes are free, and the maximum daily rate is $24. If you're traveling for several days, Long-term Parking is much more economical.
The maximum daily rate is $11, and a week costs $60. Although it's an outdoor parking lot a bit farther from the terminal, a free shuttle bus operates.
The shuttle picks up passengers and luggage near the parked cars and takes them to the terminal, so having large travel bags is not a major inconvenience.
For example, if you're traveling for a week, the short-term parking can become costly, but the long-term parking is about $60, making a significant difference for extended stays.
Both parking lots operate 24 hours and generally do not require reservations.
If you're picking up family or friends at the airport, it's also helpful to know about the Cell Phone Lot. You cannot wait on the terminal road if the flight has not yet arrived. You can wait at the free Cell Phone Lot and then enter the terminal once the person you are picking up has collected their luggage and called you.
The first Cell Phone Lot is about a 2-minute drive from the terminal road.
Using rental cars is also convenient. The parking and rental car facilities are close to the airport, reducing the hassle of having to travel a long distance to pick up a rental car like at large hub airports. You can also use ride-hailing services like Uber or Lyft, as well as taxis.

Traveling to Korea can be a bit inconvenient. There are no direct flights from RSW to Incheon, so you will need to connect through a major hub airport in the U.S.
Depending on your travel schedule, you will look for ways to connect through airports like Atlanta, Dallas, Chicago, or New York to get to Korea.
However, for domestic travel while living in Fort Myers, RSW is quite convenient.
This is because you can access flights connecting to major cities like New York, Chicago, Atlanta, and Dallas.
In Fort Myers, where train transportation is not well developed, the existence of this airport is even more important.
For long-distance travel, you can think of it as either by car or by plane.
It is easy to assume that Fort Myers, being a relatively quiet city, would have a small airport, but the reality is different when you visit.
It is not as chaotic as a major city hub airport, yet it is well-equipped with the necessary routes and facilities.
I would consider RSW airport as one of the hidden advantages of living in Fort Myers.
Driving about 20 minutes to the airport, parking, and boarding a flight is a significant advantage for someone who travels frequently.
