Quick Beef Fried Rice with Just Ground Beef at Home - Palisades Park - 1

When it comes to cooking for kids, the biggest concern is what to make that they will actually eat.

If I only have ground beef in the fridge, I can whip up beef fried rice in just 10 minutes.

You can easily find it at any grocery store in the U.S., and it's cheaper than steak, so buying a big pack is really convenient for various meals.

Especially for kids' fried rice, ground beef is perfect because you don't need to cut the meat into pieces.

For two servings, prepare about 150-200g of ground beef. You can use whatever vegetables you have at home.

I usually chop up zucchini, carrots, and green onions. If your kids aren't big fans of vegetables, the trick is to chop them as finely as possible.

They tend to eat it better when it's mixed in.

First, add the ground beef to a heated pan.

Add about 1 teaspoon of soy sauce, 1 teaspoon of oligo syrup, and 1 teaspoon of cooking wine, then sprinkle some pepper on top.

Stir continuously with a spatula to break up the beef and cook it evenly.

It's important to cook the ground beef until it's crumbly rather than in large chunks, as it will mix better with the rice later and taste much better.

Once the beef is almost cooked, add the chopped zucchini, carrots, and green onions all at once.

If the beef is too lean, you can drizzle a little olive oil at this point.

On the other hand, if you're using fatty ground beef, you don't need to add much oil.

Stir-fry the vegetables and meat together, then add about 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce.

Once the oyster sauce is added, the aroma of the fried rice changes significantly.

Since this is for kids, it's best not to add too much at first; just enough to make it slightly lacking is good.

When the vegetables are cooked to your liking, add 2 servings of rice.

It's better if you have cold rice, but if you're using freshly cooked rice, let it cool slightly before adding it for easier frying.

Now, use the spatula to break up the rice and mix it evenly with the meat and vegetables.

At this point, taste it. If it seems a bit bland, you can add a little more oyster sauce or adjust the seasoning with salt. A bit of pepper also adds flavor.

And that's it!

Top it off with a fried egg for a nice touch, and if you have seaweed flakes, sprinkle some on top at the end; kids love it.

What's great is that everything—rice, beef, and vegetables—are all in one bowl.

No need to pull out various side dishes, and cleanup is almost done with just one pan.

If you open the fridge and find no suitable side dishes while the kids are hungry, you don't have to worry if you have a pack of ground beef.

Just fry the beef, add the vegetables, and mix in the rice.

This menu seems to be the best for quickly feeding them in under 10 minutes on busy days.
