One of the Best Advantages of Long Beach is Its Location - Long Beach - 1

If I had to pick just one advantage of Long Beach, I would want to talk about its location first. If you draw a radius of about 50 miles around Long Beach on a map, it becomes clear why. Most of the well-known places in Southern California, from LA to Orange County, fall within this area.

First of all, it's about 25 miles to downtown LA. Hollywood is around 30 miles away, and Santa Monica and West LA are also close enough for a day trip. Heading north, you have Pasadena and Glendale, and going south, you immediately reach Orange County.

Especially for families with kids, the proximity to Disneyland is a significant advantage. It's roughly 20 miles from Long Beach to Anaheim Disneyland, so if traffic is good, you can get there in about 30 minutes. Of course, in Southern California, traffic congestion can make it take much longer during rush hours.

Knott's Berry Farm is also nearby. If you go a bit further, you can make a day trip to Universal Studios Hollywood. So living in Long Beach means that a trip to a theme park doesn't have to be a big journey; you can leave in the morning, have fun, and return home in the evening.

For beach lovers, the location is even more exciting. Long Beach itself has a beach, but if you go a little further down, you'll find Seal Beach, and below that are Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, and Laguna Beach. Heading northwest, you also have Redondo Beach and Manhattan Beach.

Interestingly, each beach has a completely different vibe. If you want to walk quietly along the shore, Seal Beach is perfect. If you're looking for surfing and a youthful atmosphere, Huntington Beach is the place. If you want to spend the day dining and watching yachts, Newport Beach is ideal, and if you want to see more stunning coastal scenery, you can head down to Laguna Beach.

The airport options are also quite good. Long Beach Airport is right next door, and you can also use LAX and John Wayne Airport. If you expand your options a bit, Ontario Airport is also available. Compared to areas in Southern California where you have to rely on just one airport, this is a pretty convenient situation.

On weekends, the range of activities expands even more. San Diego and Palm Springs are both great weekend getaway options, and you can even head up to Santa Barbara. If you leave early in the morning, it's possible to make a round trip in one day without needing to book a hotel.

So, it's more accurate to view Long Beach as a city that is conveniently located for moving in multiple directions rather than just being a city close to one tourist spot. If you want to have fun in LA, you head north; if you want to go to Disneyland, you go east; and if you want to enjoy a proper beach, you head down to Orange County.

Of course, one thing to keep in mind is that in Southern California, 25 miles doesn't always mean a 30-minute drive. During rush hours, it's common for it to take over an hour. Still, the geographical location of Long Beach itself doesn't change.

For those who frequently travel around Southern California, Long Beach serves as a pretty interesting base camp. With just a one- or two-hour drive, you can access major cities, theme parks, famous beaches, and airports. One of the biggest attractions of living in Long Beach is this excellent accessibility.
